Body & Spirit Missions

Body & Spirit Missions grew into existence out of the necessity to communicate gift-worthy needs for East Africans who are without proper medical care, opportunities for Christian education, and who are seeking God via Jesus Christ as Lord through the simple good news, or gospel, of the Bible.  In some parts of the world this approach is viewed as non-denominational or non-traditional.  We view it like first century Christianity where "religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world" (James 1:27).  We're also informed by and motivated daily by the Apostle Paul's teachings, e.g. "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" and "as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers" (Galatians 6: 2, 10).

Who We Are: We're Christians and do our work in the name of Jesus Christ.  Mike is drawn to the kids, innocent victims of war and diseases whose parents are either dead, or the kids are abandoned.  He is a doctor of health care management, a U.S. Navy-trained clinician, licensed as a medical doctor in South Sudan, Kenya, Ghana, and Uganda, where he serves with Ministries of Health in a variety of ways.  He works with universities struggling to develop professional healthcare education programs, as well as with healthcare research facilities doing work in the development of treatments for communicable diseases.  God keeps him busy doing clinical medicine in remote areas Western Bahr el-Ghazal, South Sudan, near Darfur Province, in western and northwestern Uganda hit hard in 2009 by bacterial meningities, cholera, and typhoid fever, in places like western Kenya where in 2009 tribal wars broke loose and thousands lost their lives.  Many whom he coordinates care for are innocent victims of Islamic jihad and terrorism, including genocide.
